The Countdown Begins 10/23/09

Isaiah's next surgery is less than 2 weeks away now and this is our last weekend before making the trip to Dallas for his Cranial Vault. We unfortunately aren't going to go trick or treating this year since we'll be in the car on Saturday so we can make it to Dallas in time for his pre op appointments on Monday November 2nd. His surgery will be on Tuesday the 3rd. We had a great idea for his costume, one that would totally date him, and probably most people would be like huh? We thought it would have been cool to dress him up like Chef Duff Goldman from Ace of Cakes on Food Network, aka the guy that makes the crazy cool cakes and owner of Charm City Cakes in Baltimore, MD. I've kind of thought they've got some similar facial features and totally the same demeanor. I was planning to paint on a little goatee and darken his eyebrows and put him in a little white chef coat or hockey jersey and a backwards baseball cap which Duff wears on the show a bunch. I've got an artist's depiction below of what could've been...









On second thought looking at that, maybe we're better off. He does kind look a bit creepy with dark eyebrows.

I would have been one of the ones saying, "Huh?" but with your side by side artist rendering, I think Isaiah would have been adorable. You can trick or treat at our house. We've already got candy!

We've got so much to be Thankful for this year! especially all of the help and well wishes we've received from all of you. We've got a healthy baby boy, with a couple of major issues, but all things that can be dealt with in time. We're so happy and lucky to have him. Surgery Update Numero Tres

We're in his room with him right now! He's rather puffy right now and his bandages come down to the tip of his nose, but he's here with us. Everyone says he's done very well. His bandages almost make it look like he's just got a big white winter cap on pulled low on his head. He's pretty quiet right now since he's still sleeping off some of the anesthesia. He's got an IV going to give him some extra fluids and he's on oxygen for the time being. Both of us are rather hungry since we could barely eat anything this morning and now that its all over we're realizing we haven't really eaten much of anything since 6:30 this morning and its just past 2pm now. We're still trying to figure out the lay of the land here in the PCA section of the hospital, but it sounds like one of us should be here at all times to watch over him, which puts a little monkey wrench into our plan of getting Rachel out to the RPA 15th anniversary party on Friday
